After a lot of research and consultation, we’ve come to the conclusion that any attempt to prevent squirrels from visiting would be a futile task. Instead, we focused on making sure that the materials used will be able to withstand significant damage, which should prevent the squirrels from destroying the feeder itself. Right now our priorities lie in making sure that no harm could come to our feathered friends. We’ve shared some best humane practices to keep your squirrels away from your feeder here.

This version of Bird Buddy sadly does not have local storage, which means it does require a Wi-Fi connection. Once Bird Buddy is connected to your home Wi-Fi, it uses that connection to send the stream to your mobile device. We are looking into local storage options for the future versions of Bird Buddy. If you’re having trouble connecting your feeder to your Wi-Fi network, you may need to install a Wi-Fi extender to boost your signal into your backyard.

Sharing is caring! The Bird Buddy app allows you to share the experience with friends and family by adding up to three people to your feeder through the app.

Depending on how many photos you take and how much you stream the video feed, the battery can last anywhere between 5 and 15 days. The electronic module is detachable and rechargeable via the USB-C cable that is included in the order. If you want to have the stream running constantly, you can plug Bird Buddy into a power source and never lose sight of just what is going on in your backyard. You can also decide to purchase the solar roof add-on for a continuous charge during daylight!

Newly placed pre-orders can only be shipped to the US, Canada, European Union, UK, Norway and Switzerland. No worries, though: all existing pre-orders will be fulfilled as promised, regardless of the shipping destination. We will be translating the app into all major world languages! At the moment, our app is available in English (US), English (UK), German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, and Slovenian.

Yes, the feeder itself is weatherproof! The central module that houses the camera will withstand temperatures ranging from -5°F to 120°F (-20°C to 50°C). It is also detachable so you can easily take it out and safely store it inside on extreme days.
